Freestyle flying is for me, very much about becoming one with the kite. It becomes an extension of my own movements. I have to "feel" the kite, sense what it is doing and try to understand what goes through its tiny carbon fibre brain as it flies. Only then when I grok the kite can I make it dance.

...and you just can't get that with long lines. It's like using a dustbin liner for a condom: it's going through the motions without any feeling...
