  • Added an article entitled MVC: No Silver Bullet adapted from a post I made to the TT mailing list. It is about the MVC (Model-View-Controller) design pattern and how it applies (or not) to web applications. My conclusion is that MVC is no silver bullet.

  • I hacked up a logo proclaiming that Corporate Greed is Killing Music to protest at HP recently announcing that it would be adding Digital Rights Management software (aka "Big Brother Controls") to its products. Apparently Sony are also heading that way so they get a mention, as does Microsoft who are unsurprisingly at the very heart of the matter.

  • Added some pictures of me skating at Farnham Road car park.

  • I got a new digital camera and it's raining. So I've been wandering around the house looking for something interesting to take pictures of. My dirtboard proved to me a most capable subject.

  • Updated the Goldbach Weave page to explain a little more about how it graphically represents Goldbach's conjecture.

  • Added the London.pm page containing details of the talks I've given to the London.pm Perl Monger group.

  • Added this Latest page to keep track of updates to the site.

18th November 2003

  • Launched this new-look site. I've been working on this total update of the site for about seven years. Yes, seven. Every time I got a little further into it, I would find something that was too complex, too hard to do, or just too damn annoying. So I went off and wrote the Template Toolkit to make life easier. Sooner or later I came back to my site, hacked a little more, and then hit the next stumbling block. Off to solve another problem, write another TT plugin, hack some XML, or whatever, and my web site got put on hold again. That's how it came to take seven years to update my site, but I solved some interesting problems and wrote some great software along the way.
