This page is designed to be found by robot programs which trawl the web harvesting email addresses. These lists of email addresses are then sold to people who use them to send SPAM (unsolicited email) to advertise their products or services.

However, I've specifically created a '/robots.txt' file which looks like this:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /misc/commercial.html

and I've also included a META tag in this file which looks like this:

<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">

Both of these give clear indications to trawling robots that they should NOT examine this page and most certainly should NOT harvest this email address for inclusion on a SPAM list. This email address is not replicated (by me) anywhere but on this page. The only way they can get this email is to disregard my explicit instructions, make unauthorised access to these resources and invade my privacy.

Despite making my wishes explicitly clear, I wouldn't be at all surprised if, like every other email address I have, it ends up on a SPAM list being used to waste my time and utilise my computing resources without my permission. The benefit of this for me, is that it will provide me with a considerable (and easily gained) income for many years to come. Or at least until people realise that spamming doesn't work and stop doing it. Either way, I win. :-)
