Music is Dead, Film at 11...
Anyone remember the "Home Taping is Killing Music" skull-and-crossbones that used to appear on LP covers in the 1980s? Yeah right, home taping really killed off the music industry didn't it? Now the entertainment industry is claiming that file sharing is killing music (and film, and software, etc) and that Digital Rights Management is the only solution.
Of course, this is just more of the same bullshit. It's all about putting control over what you do with your computer, CD player, printer, scanner, etc., in the hands of Microsoft and their corporate buddies. Your rights as a consumer are being quickly eroded to put more control in the hands, and more profit in the pockets of the corporate giants of the computer and entertainment industries.
Don't stand for it - boycott HP, Sony and Microsoft products - or at the very least, choose against them whenever you can. And don't be afraid of writing to them to let them know why you went with a competitor's product instead of theirs. Or failing that, just put one of these logos up on your web site, and then you can look like a hardened human rights protester without having to do anything too much like hard work...
